Hi, I’m Kushagr Karn — a filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor passionate about telling stories that feel honest, human, and visually striking. Whether it’s through short films, commercial work, or experimental projects, I aim to create work that leaves a lasting impression.

My journey so far has been equal parts learning and experimenting. One of my short films was officially selected for the Cinemaking International Film Festival, an experience that pushed me to think globally about storytelling. I also had the privilege of being the first-ever student assistant director for my school’s annual production — a large-scale project with a ₹1 crore budget that gave me a front-row seat to the complexity and collaboration of professional filmmaking.

Cinemaking International Film Festival 2025

My short film Debt, created by a group of high school students, was selected for the CineMaking International Film Festival. The film delves into the consequences and complexities surrounding debt, exploring how financial obligations can affect relationships, trust, and personal choices. Despite being made entirely by high school filmmakers, the story tackles these mature themes with sensitivity and depth, reflecting our commitment to telling meaningful, thought-provoking narratives. Having the film recognized at an international festival was incredibly rewarding, as it highlighted the potential of young voices to engage audiences with stories that resonate on a universal level.
